Nick Griffin's Black Humour

No jokes about skin-colour here — only Nazis. I'm not entirely sure what the punch-line of Nick's joke is, but can only suggest that he keeps his humour more "mainstream" (just as he's trying to make the BNP's politics seem more "mainstream") lest people mistake his patter for something else entirely.

Transcript of the BBC Interview:

Nick Robinson
On your website you are quoted as linking with the Nazi generals who were hanged at the Nuremberg trials.
Nick Griffin
And I would have thought that the BBC was sophisticated enough to recognise a little bit of black humour, which is what that is.
NR
Oh, it was a joke?!
NG
It's little bit of dark black humour, yes. Because they've been having a go at me all day. They're working not to their own agenda... they're working... these people are intimately linked with the Conservative Party. So they've made the decision to play rough politics... so they can have some rough politics back.

Here's what the BNP party leader said:

Those Tory generals who today attacked the British National Party should remember that at the Nuremburg Trials, the politicians and generals accused of waging illegal aggressive wars were all charged - and hanged - together.

Nick Robinson had the following to say on his blog:

I suggested to Mr Griffin that the families of victims of World War II and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan might not get the joke. He did not respond.
